Bamboo Fargesia ‘Deep Purple’ red – Hardy plant

Tall stems, deep colours. The red bamboo ‘Deep Purple’ (Fargesia jiuzhaigou) works as a hedge, but is also lovely to behold on its own! The stems change from green to a dark red-purple colour. The stems can grow up to three metres tall! The winter-hardy Fargesia retains its leaves all year round.
The Fargesia doesn’t spread, so pruning is not necessarily required. However, you can shape it. Do this in the autumn and winter. Plant the bamboo in partial shade. Give moderate water. Water it more during dry periods.
